Best pub in central London for: unpretentious beer on tap The Newman Arms is one of London's most storied pubs - it was integral to Fitzrovia's fecund 20th-century literary scene, and has been in existence since 1730, so it was a real shame when it closed in 2017. But new operator, the London-based Truman Brewery, itself a revived concern, reopened it in 2018.
